Horticulture Specialist
Effective with the release of this position announcement, Winrock International is recruiting applicants for the position of Horticulture Specialist for an anticipated USAID-funded Tajikistan Agribusiness Competitiveness Activity project.
Winrock is seeking senior-level agriculture marketing, supply chain, and finance experts for a USAID funded project that will support the growth of a competitive agriculture industry in Tajikistan. The experts will design and provided technical leadership to activities that will support agribusinesses in accessing and competing in domestic, region, and international markets. Through its market-driven interventions the project will spur on and off-farm employment opportunities and incentivize investment in business service provision and market infrastructure. For all positions, preference is given to those with previous private sector experience and advanced degrees.
Position Description:
Horticulture Specialist will improve horticulture productivity and marketing.
He/she will design embedded extension solutions to facilitate the transfer of internationally recognized quality compliance systems to producers and SMEs (i.e. Global GAP, SPS, HACCP). Incentivize investment in upgrading market infrastructure and supporting services. Facilitate transfer and adoption of technology and agricultural practices that will improve quality and competitiveness. Co-create sustainable supply chain models with private sector linked to high value domestic, regional, and international markets.
Minimum Experience Required:
Advanced degree in agronomy or related field
10 years’ experience in horticulture production and marketing
Track record of working with service providers in the horticulture sector.
Fluency in English, Russian and Tajik.
